There is not another family, a man made structure -or- even a tree, for hundreds and hundreds of miles. So it boggles the mind that a smattering of families would choose to live in such a remote and almost desolate place for a few months with their horses, goats and cows.
And yet their smiles are remarkable. As they go about their daily chores, rounding up the horses and cows, tending to the goats who have gone much further in search of better grass, their physical strength and resolve is evident but it is the joy in their work that confuses. Hardship is not hard here, it seems. And nature, for all its harshness, not a foe.
