Before the A, there was a B,
before the B, the letter E,
the C and K and F and G
were joined by L,M,N,O,P.
I knew the letters but not the words,
try as I did I stayed perturbed,
Nothing made any sense to me,
what are these letters trying to be?
But then one day I found a friend,
and with her finger did extend,
slowly she read the words to me,
and now I can read and write to thee.
